how to soundproof a floor without having to do renovations?

with 2 comments

I’m moving away in an apartment and I was thinking about bringing my pet dove with me. Problem, he makes really loud "low frequency" sounds that annoys everyone (but me o.o) and I need to block that noise so the neighbors wont complain.

Because it’s a rented place, I can’t do renovations and I wont do that just for a bird anyways. Your guessing that I want something really cheap and easily obtainable. I’m already planing to build myself a bunch of sound panels, I just need to find something I can put on the floor and easily remove and re-use in case I move away. I repeat, It has to be easily obtainable from a local store.

balcony or crate train?

with 13 comments

i have told my husband time and time again to buy our larger pup a crate, so i can crate train him. the first thing that comes out of his mouth is "oh, it’s too expensive. he would need an extra large crate." money isn’t an issue. i’m getting ready to just take our money and go buy one, regardless of what he says. he goes to work and asks his chain of command and co workers their thoughts on it, and many tell him that i’m crazy. i’m crazy for feeding him a raw diet, for wanting to buy him a crate, for having an dog in an apartment. i tell him that he and them are crazy for telling me i’m crazy when they don’t take care of my pups. PLUS, most of them live in the military barracks, and they CAN’T have pets. they are young, and all they do is go to the city and party. why would i care about their opinion?
my question- there any more reasons why i could tell him that we need a crate other than the obvious? do you crate train your dog? is it successful? our pup is trained, but my hubby and others keep forgetting that he is DOG. you can train them, but when left alone, they can get destructive. he’s chewed the paneling off the bottom of the bathroom wall, my hubbys game system cords and game boxes, etc. he isn’t teething (8 months), just bored. his toys and food/water isn’t enough.
he doesn’t do any of this when we are at home. it’s just that you can’t expect too much from a bored dog. we don’t leave him alone for hrs upon hrs. i know how to crate train. i’m tired of cleaning my carpets of pee and poop everyday. we live in an apartment, so he doesn’t have an doggy door.
my husband and many others suggest putting him on the balcolny. we live in the upstairs, and when he pees and poops, it will drain to the bottom if we don’t catch it. plus, someone may try to harass him. he may get scared or excited and jump. i doubt it, but he is a DOG. plus, what if bad weather strikes while we are out? there’s too many negatives. suggestions?
