Spayed and still peeing.?

with 3 comments

I have just moved in with my boyfriend who has these two female cats. One is just over four years, named Midnight. She use to be a sweet well behaved cat, until he brought home his secound cat who is now just over three years named Piffa.
Now Piffa had what the vet said was a hernia ( which has resently been removed along with her spaying) and we believe this was causing her to start peeing every where as it was located above her bladder. Midnight however seemed to become taritorial and joined in with the peeing around the house.

It was sooooo very bad. It got to the point where his mother refused to let them out of his room and forsed him to place their litter boxes in there aswell ( They would pee on the couch, garbage, doors, everyones exspecialy my shoes and even jump onto the counters and pee on the stove tops causeing a nasty smell when trying to cook and they would pee on the tea kettle.)

Now this solution worked out wonderfuly for his mother, but not so great for us. His room became a disaster zone. Pee on everything from electronics to the laundery. They would sit in his window and pee down his curtians, on his heaters, all along the side of his bed ( which first we had to throw out the frames do to rust from the cat pee, then after a few months we lifted the boxspring to rearange and there was an outline of the bed soooo black that we still cant scrub it out and its been almost a year.). His floor are for ever stained (not just under the bed) they have been peed on so much that the wood panels are actually lifting up and a few pieces had to be thrown out ( we have noo money to do new flooring and carpets are the cats favorite thing to pee on).

I have tryed everything I could to help him stop these cute fuzzy little monsters. Cleaning and then placing food where they pee, multible and regularly changed litter boxes, vinegar and lemon sprays even tryed Urinbegone spray from the pet store. We tryed blocking off where they peed only to find them peeing on what was in the way. They would be even worse when they went into heat (that of course would make sence)

They get along great with each other and everyone in the house.

NOW onto more resent problems. I have just spent a lot of money to have them spayed. While they where at the vets my boyfriend, his mother and my self scrubbed all day and night threw out old furniture (since I am bring some from my old place) desperitly trying to remove any trace of cat pee, both visual and smell.

They have been doing amazingly. ( it’s been two weeks since the surgery). Midnight doesnt pee around the house at all any more and we have let them out of his room and moved the litter boxes ( into the dryer room where the moms 15 year old cats box is, this cat just sleeps all day in the same corner , shes obesse but even she makes it to the litter box, oh and the other cats love her).
Theres been no major problems like before, only Piffa has just started peeing again. first on a bag of garbage left at the door to be taken to the dumpster out back ( this happend twice) and has now for 3 nights in a row peed on the kitchen garbage can. This isn’t a small amout of pee either. We are talking a massive puddle. Im scared she’ll start peeing in the rest of the house again.

We love her and dont want to get rid of her expecialy after we spent all this money. And yes she has been checked for an uti. The vet said they are both healthy.
Please help what can we do. (sorry for the novel)
Oh and we keep everything every clean. We change the garbage every two days. Their boxes are scooped everyday and changed every week (theres three boxes and thats a lot of litter to go threw). And yes we have tryed different types of cleaners and garbage bags.

We have everything you need from small dogs to big dogs, and even for you cat lovers! Come and visit Maui’s premier pet boutique! We look forward to meeting you and your Pouchi! …and remember Pamper your Pouchi with Style! Pouchi Couture Boutique & Barkery was established in November of 2007 after my husband and I decided to adopt a very adorable new born Maltese puppy we named Lacie. Like all parents or puppy owners, we wanted to pamper our little Lacie to no end. Our only problem was that Maui’s regular pet shops sold the usual drab and boring dog stuff. There just wasn’t anything for my Lacie to really SHINE in. Unless we bought all the glamorous and fashionable pet accessories on-line. However the long waiting, and the expensive shipping, and the mixed up orders was just too much to put up with. So we, my mother and I, decided to open a fun, Stylish and unique pet boutique in the heart of Kahului. Our vision is to have a place where you and your pet can have your own place to shop, and Pouchi Couture Boutique & Barkery promises to be just that. Customer service is our #1 priority and we value the relationships that we have with each and every person and pet that walk through our door

Do both my dogs have a rash?

with 3 comments

So I’ve been thinking, and can’t get an answer anywhere… I was watching that America’s Top Groomer (or whatever that mini-series was on Animal Planet). On that episode where they went door-to-door grooming dogs, the one team opted to shave one of the dogs. They said it was a good thing they did because they discovered a "skin condition" that would have gone undetected. All you could see were darker spots on the dog, but no hair loss or anything. I have shaved my dogs (2 shih tzus) throughout the summer. I noticed they both have these large dark grey freckle-ish spots all over. It’s not part of their fur coloration (although he’s black & white and she’s white w/grey ears & tail), and they have NO other signs/symptoms with it (no flaking, itching, etc.). Granted, my female has severe separation anxiety to the point of having diahrea when I’m gone (we go to the vet AGAIN on Tuesday), but my male has NO health issues. Diet-wise, they were getting Science Diet, and after I found out that was crap, they’ve been getting mommy’s home-made food (loaded with vitamins, veggies, and lean meat) until I can get to the pet store (I have to drive approx. 100 miles unless I want to feed them Wal-Mart crap). The spots haven’t gone away as far as I know (I have no intentions on shaving them again until next summer, and their coats have grown in quite a bit). Are these just doggie-freckles, or is there something underlying that I should be concerned with? What the heck are they?
First pic shows the spots, second pic shows what she looks like with fur.

MK- No, I did not shave my dogs to see if they had a rash. I shaved them because it was summer, I live in the south, and I would like for them to not die of heatstroke just because I let them outside to pee! The groomer shaved them the first time, then I just did it myself afterwards because it was a ton cheaper! Read the question before answering it please!

Guinea Pig Habitat? Please help me!?!?

with 6 comments

Hey, so for Christmas I really really wanted 2 Guinea Pigs. I have researched about them for 4 months. Now I have come to this. The Guinea Pig would either have to live in the covered porch or unfinished basement! Where I live the winters get to about -20 degrees at the most (or more?!). I think that would probably be not a good idea! But my porch is covered and has removable windows! And having more than one guinea pig is good, they can huddle together if they need to! If it was okay for them to live outside, which kind of cage? If it could be under 5 that would be great! And I live in Canada and the only pet store near me is Pet Smart! Here is the link to Pet Smart- please pick out a warm comfortable roomy cage (or hutch) for 2 piggies: http://www.petsmart.com/category/index.jsp?categoryId=2767038

So now my basement. It is unfinished, and is like any other unfinished basement. There is the heater or whatever (it looks like a large tin contraption). I find it warm-ish in the winter, there are two parts of the basement, finished and unfinished. I can’t put it in the finished though. But anyway the finished is the warmest room in the house, then there is a door which leads to the unfinished. But would the noises from upstairs be a problem? Please let me know. And if I put them in the basement I’d get a C&C cage!

Please please help me! Make any suggestion!

Oh and by the way, I have a hamster who’s in my room already so I can’t put them there- not to mention my parents wouldn’t let me! And I have a dog, who gets along with small animals. But still, I can’t put them any where else than unfinished basement or porch!

THANKS!
no aquariums please!
Okay guys how about getting a pet heat pad like Chazard03 suggested and then putting it in the bottom of the cage (with those wire grates taken out) and on top of the heating pad a blanket then fleece. I would put lots of snuggle blankets, beds, hideouts and stuff! And in the covered area same thing with a pigloo and snuggle beds and cozy stuff! I would put their food in the uncovered part, to encourage them to go out of their cozy covered area! What do ya think?
